Dr Christine Bonsmann, BACP (Accred), UKCP (Accred), MBPsS, DProf, MSc, MBA
39a Regent Street
I am able to work with you to help you to:
- Feel less stressed or anxious and become able to improve your wellbeing.
- Feel less lost, unmotivated or stuck and become able to feel more engaged in life.
- Feel less isolated, misunderstood or alone and start to feel more confident.
- Understand and improve your relationships at home and in the workplace.
I have a wide experience of working in various clinical settings in the NHS, mental health organisations, eating disorder clinics, business organisations and private practice delivering successful outcomes for clients and am able to offer:
- Face-to-face counselling for individuals and couples.
- Short-term solution-focused therapy and long-term therapy as required.
- Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) interventions.
- Coaching and personal development for professionals.
- Counselling services to EAPs, insurance companies and business organisations.
- Workplace wellness and training and development workshops.
- Telephone counselling.
My key areas of experience are:
Work Issues: Problems at work can spill over into the other areas of life. I can work with you to help you overcome problems in the workplace, for example work stress, loss of direction, loss of confidence and difficulties in work relationships. I have worked with clients with work problems for several years and am experienced in working with EAPs and organisations. I have held senior managerial positions in the past, for example I have worked as a qualified Financial Controller in The City and have an MBA Degree from a leading business school. I am a founding member of the BACP Division of Coaching.
Anxiety and stress: Anxiety can ruin your life and it can also make your life feel very small. It can inform every thought and decision you make or fail to make. Stress leads to distress and it can end up ruining your life. I am experienced in working with people to develop coping strategies to manage anxiety, to understand anxiety and to explore ways to alleviate anxiety. If you feel socially anxious, it can feel particularly difficult to access counselling and I am experienced and very sensitive in working with people who feel this way.
Feeling Low: Depression can lead to a vicious circle of inactivity. It can make it hard to get up in the morning, let alone do anything productive. Maybe you feel like staying in bed all day and think that others can't even begin to imagine just how helpless or lost you feel. I can help you to work through these feelings and become more engaged with life.
Relationship Issues: I work with individuals who find it hard to navigate relationships, have low self-esteem or have difficulties in making friends to find ways to overcome obstacles to living life in a fulfilling way. I also work with clients experiencing guilt, relationship breakdowns, separation, divorce, affairs and betrayals to help them to move forward. I can help you to work through shame, disappointment and loss you might be feeling. I help couples who are experiencing difficulties to decide how they would like their relationship to be. I have undertaken certified training in couples counselling to inform this specialist work.
Please refer to my website www.yourtherapyspace.co.uk for more information about counselling and how it may help you.
I am an accredited member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP), an accredited member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) and a graduate member of British Psychological Society (BPS). I have received training in the three main widely-recognised types of therapy: humanistic therapy, cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) and brief psychodynamic therapy. I draw on these trainings to tailor an approach which suits your needs and preferences so that we make sure that we work on your goals for therapy and work towards helping you to achieve positive and lasting change. I have also undertaken specialist certified training in couples counselling and coaching.
Further I have successfully completed a Doctorate in Counselling and Psychotherapy. I keep up to date with the latest thinking and research in the field of counselling and psychotherapy. I regularly participate in continuing professional development activities in line with good ethical practice and have trained in a wide number of therapy topics. I have been working as a counsellor for 13 years. Please note I am not a GP and am unable to prescribe medication.
Where am I?
I am based in central Leamington Spa with nearby parking.
If you have any questions or wish to make an appointment, then please ring on 0795 006 4086 or email me at email@example.com and I will get back to you as soon as I can and this will usually be within 24 hours. I am able to offer evening appointments. I have a limited number of Saturday morning appointments available.
I know it can be hard to ask for help and you may be worried about what to say. I will do my best to appreciate that and we can figure out the way forward together. We can start working together to achieve your goals and discover how you would like the rest of your life to be. I look forward to hearing from you.

My research interests are concerned with how clients experience therapy, and this research helps to inform my practice. I am a published author in the counselling and psychotherapy field and my peer-reviewed published papers inform the practice of other counsellors and mental health professionals and help clients to understand the therapy process. I have presented my research at international conferences, most recently at the BACP Annual Research Conference in 2017 which is an internationally acclaimed counselling and psychotherapy conference. I also teach counselling and psychotherapy students undertaking doctoral studies.
I am qualified to supervise other counsellors’ work. If you are a counsellor seeking supervision or consultancy, please contact me to arrange an informal meeting to help you to decide if I could help you. I am also able to offer supervision to other professionals who need support or guidance in their field.
