Christine Ankers - MBACP BABCP Adult and Children's Therapist
Hi and thank you for taking the time to read my profile.
I can understand you may be feeling overwhelmed right now but also choosing the right counsellor can be over whelming too. I love my job and i take my role very seriously so i will endeavour to help you and my hope is that together we will "fit" and share the road together.
I offer an initial free telephone consultation for us to discuss your needs. In this discussion, we can decide if counselling is right for you, and more importantly that I am the right counsellor.
During your first counselling session, I will carry out an initial assessment in which I will look at the problems and difficulties you are having and together we will identify your goals.
We will agree on how many sessions you may need and discuss the frequency of your sessions, which can be tailored to suit you and your personal circumstances.
I became a counsellor for many different reasons, it was something I had thought about for many years and then when I hit a crossroads in my life, I decided to bite the bullet and embark on this long but rewarding journey.
I realised after having counselling myself the importance of talking and sharing problems to help gain perspective and clarity in one’s life.
I understand from personal experience it's not easy opening up to a stranger, but I believe that we all deserve to be happy, and my hope is that I can help you to achieve that.
Becoming a counsellor has humbled me, and I feel privileged to do this as a profession.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a fully qualified counsellor and Registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy, and also the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
