Psychotherapist and counsellor with a background in health

About me

Particular experience in illness, trauma, bereavement and supervision

I have been practising as a counsellor/ psychotherapist and supervisor for around 40 years, both in England and Scotland.

I work with a wide range of clients, both short and long term, from all ages and from different cultures and backgrounds.

I take a particular interest in relational issues and I have substantial experience of working with people experiencing abuse and trauma.

I have worked in health care environments for many years, e.g. hospice, hospitals and general practice. As a result, I have skills in understanding problems associated with people experiencing illness and disabiilty.

I collaborate with other male and female therapists, and their networks. I am qualified in clinical supervision and have a number of supervisees.

I enjoy working with trainee counsellors undertaking courses at different levels.

Training, qualifications & experience

M.Sc Integrative psychotherapy with distinction; Ph D in a topic related to chronic illness; Certificate in Counsellor Supervision; An experienced teacher and lecturer.

I have a great deal of work experience with clients who are suffering from physical illness and/or disability. Having 12 years working in a large hospice gave me experience and knowledge of palliative care and bereavement. Additionally, I have written on the subject of the long-term effects of sexual abuse and have taken additional training in the impact of trauma.
