About me

If you want to feel happier, less stressed, more appreciative about yourself and your life, then I am here to support you. With 18 years experience in counselling, I believe therapy is a creative act that can change your life. My clients often tell me how much they enjoy our sessions together. I can assist you to understand your inner self, and teach you some great tools to help you move past anxiety or low mood or low self esteem, and start to make the changes you want to. As a Counsellor I have worked closely with clients over 18 years to help them with issues in their lives, and to explore the underlying problems that may have caused them.  I work collaboratively with individuals to empower them to make decisions for themselves to improve their sense of personal wellbeing.  I work across a range of human problems including bereavement, relationships, mental health issues and other significant life events.

I use CBT (cognitive behavioural therapy) to help with issues such as anxiety and OCD, and phobias, (such as driving phobia, or fear of heights) as this therapy has shown itself to be one of the most effective with these particular disorders.  I can effectively help you to find resolution to these issues through the medium of Skype.

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.


Health and Care Professions Council

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I think there are times when may not feel that you really fit into any particular "problem area" but that you have a sense of unease, or troubling questions or thoughts, or you just feel like it would be great to have someone to talk to. You may just feel a bit lonely or anxious.  If this is you, then please reach out.

I also think there are transitional times in our life which can be really stressful, leaving home, going to University, starting a new job, having a child, marriage, separations, ageing, divorce......this can be a good time to reach out, to check in with a neutral person to help stabilise your situation

There are also times in our life when we have very pertinent questions.  Who are we?  What are we doing here?  What do we believe in?  It can really help to talk sometimes.  To talk and to feel that you have the space for someone to really listen and understand what is going on for you.

At an initial consultation (normally from 10-30 mins), we can explore your current issues, enquire about your history and discuss whether counselling might benefit you.  This consultation can take place over phone and I charge no fee.

I may be able to negotiate fees for multiple sessions paid in advance, for students and for the low waged

Normal Fees per hour (following initial consult by phone):-
£85 for online video and phone sessions

Normal Fees for 1.5 hours (90 minutes):-
£95 for online video and phone sessions

There are no set period for sessions or number of sessions.

Practice hours are from Monday to Thursday during the day. I do have limited evening appointments available.

My standard sessions are 60 minutes but if you would prefer a longer 90 min session that is fine, many people appreciate the extra time.

I work entirely with people by video or phone. Often people not quite sure about video are surprised at how well it goes, and find it very convenient, so I encourage you to give it a go!

However, I also specialize in on approach called Voice Dialogue, (or the Psychology of the Selves). This is a great way to work with issues by getting in touch with different parts of our selves, such as the critical self, the pushing self, the mother, the lover, the romantic, the adventurer, the rebel.
