Hello and welcome to this page. I am a qualified counsellor working in Lewisham , on the border of Blackheath and Lee, not far from Ladywell, Hither Green, Kilbrooke, Greenwich and Catford. My practice, in The Gatehouse is a place at 'the threshold', a space 'in between', set aside for counselling.
Most of us have times when we are confused, overwhelmed, anxious or in pain. May be your usual ways of coping don’t work any more or you are wrestling with feeling low, with something that happened in the past or with what is happening in your life right now like a bereavement , illness , losing your job, or relationship difficulties. Sometimes we have no specific issue but a more general feeling of dissatisfaction, boredom or unhappiness and that there is more to life then what it is and has been so far.
At such times speaking with someone not directly involved, outside our circle of friends and family can help. I know from experience that seeing a counsellor helps. I was nervous though, to talk with someone I did not know about my difficulties. Yet week by week having the space and time and someone to talk to who listened and was interested in what I said helped me come through my difficulties.
I trained in Psychosynthesis Counselling because of its interest in our personality: thoughts, feelings, sensations,...; our potential: dreams, longings,... as well as our life: family, culture, social background, … and because it draws on many counselling schools and models. This allows me to work with each person according to their uniqueness and needs.
My aim is to provide a safe, supportive, caring and confidential place for you to talk about your concerns, troubles and difficulties and to listen to what you say attentively and empathy. Together we will explore what you bring, at your pace. Through this you will gain a new perspective and more understanding about yourself, your relationships and your life. It will also enable you to make more positive changes and choices and be more contented / fulfilled/ at peace with your life..
We will take time to form a relationship built on trust so that you can be more and more at ease to say what you want and need. Our work together will be by way of conversations. I might also suggest methods like drawing or and visualisation, only if appropriate and after discussing this with you.
Working with what you bring might also lead us to explore some of your past experiences, how they impact your life right now as well as your potential, aspirations, longings and how you would like your life to be.
