Psychotherapy and Coaching in Wilmslow or by phone/Teams/Zoom
It's sometimes not enough to talk to friends and family when you are stressed, anxious, confused or when your life isn't going the way you want ... and when we are all in lockdown, things that you normally cope with can just feel a whole lot worse.
Perhaps counselling and psychotherapy could help?
Who am I?
I'm not just a qualified psychotherapist and coach but also someone who runs his own business and who understands the complexities of modern life. I'm also a Mental Health First Aider and I do a lot of work in organisations to help them manage stress better.
We are all human and most of us need a bit of help now and again. You don't need to be in crisis to benefit from a therapeutic conversation. You can read more about my ideas in my books - Staying Sane in Business and Mind Body Balance in Business (available on Amazon and from www.sane.works)
Therapy, counselling and coaching are private conversations with someone who isn't going to judge you or push you into making decisions about your life or work that you aren't ready to make. It's a place to think, reflect and in my view to move towards a life more fully lived.
My approach at the beginning is simple. I ask you what help you need and together we agree on how this is going to work. You are in control from the word go.
You will have the choice about whether you want more listening than questioning, more challenge than empathy, whether you want to use tools and techniques or simply talk and even whether you welcome a bit of humour. Therapy and coaching are always respectful but there's no rule that says they always have to be deadly serious! You can choose to focus more on the past or the future and we can talk about what else you can do in your life to help you feel better, outside of our sessions.
The first step is for us to get together and explore this, so don't delay in giving me a call and setting something up. There's no obligation if you don't want to continue.
I'm looking forward to working with you....
Training, qualifications & experience
You are in safe hands. I'm a fully trained psychotherapist, business psychologist and qualified coach. You can see from my from my details that I'm BACP registered and a member of the British Psychological Society and I think that's important. Qualifications don't tell you if someone is right for you but they are at least a start point in helping you make the right choice.
What probably matters more is that I have over 30 years of experience in business and in providing help and support to people of all walks of life.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
Other areas of counselling I deal with
I work not only as a registered psychotherapist but also a business psychologist and executive coach. So, if it's organisational life, tricky career decisions, your relationship with your boss or the thought of an upcoming assessment centre that is bothering you, I'm equally able to support you.
