About me

My long-term experience enables me to offer effective therapy to a wide cross section of clients from a diverse population.

I non-judgmentally counsel a range of emotional and psychological difficulties with adults of all ages and backgrounds - helping them move forward to where they want to be in their lives.

My focus is to help individuals prioritise concerns and to overcome challenging events in their lives. Through this process they begin harnessing innate inner strengths and feeling as pressures are lifted.

Counselling's often for clients who find themselves as a stage of their lives where they're struggling with multiple, overwhelming issues. Often they either can't envisage a resolution or know the preferred course of action to take but feel unable to embark upon it. Embarking upon the process of therapy can usually bring the the extra resilience that's needed.

I achieve this by providing a neutral safe space and empathically accepting that your struggles are valid while facilitating the creation or continuation of your realistic, achievable goals.

Stress, anxiety and fears unfortunately often result in depression. These are some of the most commonly-experienced emotions to manage at difficult points in our lives. Through counselling, we'll be able to help you to recover your focus, motivation or perspective and recapture a sense of hope.

Training, qualifications & experience

I initially trained at various campuses around West Yorkshire before completing my degree in person-centred counselling at the University of Brighton.

I've specialised in working with patients who have physical illnesses, victims of abuse, relationship issues as well as anxiety, stress and depression which are increasingly prevalent.

Previously, I've also been employed by the NHS on psychiatric inpatient wards working with more acute illnesses and struggles such as self-harming, suicide attempts, psychotic episodes and paranoia.

I'm a registered member of British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (MBACP).

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
