About me

I am an integrative counsellor, which means I am trained with the theoretical knowledge from all three of the traditional approaches in counselling, namely Humanistic, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behaviour Therapy.

I offer a safe and secure setting, where you will have the opportunity to share and explore the issues that are causing you difficulty in your life, in a non-judgemental free environment.

Having the ability to work in a time limited, solution focused way or working together in an open ended relational way, I will be able to tailor an approach to suit your needs.

My background is vast, where I have valuable experience in working in mental health.  I am currently working for the University of South Wales, promoting Mental Wellbeing, along with past experience from my work with the mental health charity Mind in Monmouthshire. My counselling background consists of working in mental health with Torfaen Mind, along with bereavement training and work with Cruse Bereavement.

I am more than happy to discuss my service further, via email, or a free telephone consultation.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information

I am a registered member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) which is one of the first organisations to have its voluntary register assessed and accredited under a new scheme set up by the Department of Health. This is administered by an independent body which is accountable to Parliament; The Professional Standards Authority for Health and Social Care.

Accreditation means that the BACP Register of Counsellors and Psychotherapists meets the authority’s high standards in governance, standard setting, education and training, management, complaints and information.

My practice encompasses the code of ethics set forth by the BACP which is available to view on their website.
