About me

My name is Valérie Wendorff, I am a trilingual Psychotherapist, Chartered Clinical Psychologist and Supervisor. I can offer you the possibility to fully engage in the therapeutic process by expressing yourself in you native language French, Arabic or English. I am a registered member with the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy), HCPC (Health and Care Professions Council), BPS (British Psychological Society) and EAP (European Association for Psychotherapy).

I have been actively involved in the psychology field for the past 15 years. Alongside my private practice, I used to work within the NHS, in different NGOs and schools across the lifespan.  I also held the position of Supervisor and Training Manager at a private organisation for Eating Disorders.

Throughout these 15 years I got the opportunity  to expand my professional experience as I deal on a daily basis with a wide variety of cases from all ages and different cultural backgrounds. I can offer psychological therapies, as well as neuropsychological assessments, supervision and training for professionals and organisations.

I am now the co-director of ChAT Services: Children and Adults Therapy Services where I collaborate with a group of  highly trained therapists specialising in different modalities and approaches. If I cannot meet your requirements, take a look at their profiles and let me know if you feel one of them might be a good match or alternatively, give us a call and my client support team will be happy to discuss your enquiry with you. Our associates have extensive experience and a wide variety of training, including EMDR therapy, psychological assessments, dyslexia assessments and much more! Don't hesitate to contact us for more information.

Training, qualifications & experience

I believe that every person is unique, therefore would have unique therapeutic needs. Thus, I use a multi-dimensional approach specifically tailored to the client's difficulty. My training in both Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy has given me the possibility to draw from different modalities in my practice: CBT, psychodynamic, psycho-organic analysis. I also do couple's therapy, more specifically for fertility and perinatal issues.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

HCPC
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)

The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.

They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.

Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I have a growing interest in the field of perinatal care and specifically infertility stress which was the focus of my PhD research.  I am actively involved in awareness around this area of work and therefore was privileged to speak at the 8th World Congress of Psychotherapy in Paris about working with couples facing infertility, in July 2017.
