About me

Hello, I'm Cheryl, thank you for looking at my profile. I offer a warm, welcoming and confidential space where you will be listened to without judgment. I am committed to working alongside you, helping you to find clarity, resilience and a path towards a positive future.

Everyone at some time or another needs support when going through difficult times. Having someone you can trust to be heard and validated in a supportive environment can make a life - changing difference. Whilst we can't change the past, we can work together to explore your situation, reflect on the problems  you are facing, gain a greater understanding of what is going on for you, and move towards resolving any difficulties you may be facing.

I have worked with mental well-being for over 19 years as a counsellor, children and families social worker and social care worker. I work with clients to help them navigate significant change and find solutions to their problems. Alongside my Private Practice I have counselled adults at a South-Warwickshire based charity for the past 2 and a half years. I therefore bring a wealth of knowledge and compassionate approach to help you face life's challenges.

My particular areas of interest are grief and bereavement work, loss and transition at a significant life event, (divorce, redundancy, retirement, becoming a carer, health problems, empty nest) anxiety and depression counselling, boundaries work, relationship counselling, domestic abuse, neurodiversity (ADHD, Autism, Dyslexia, Tourette's) and working with parenting and family issues.

I am an integrative therapist which means that I draw on several therapeutic models to help meet your individual needs, this includes Person-Centred Therapy, CBT, Transactional Analysis, Gestalt and Mindfulness approaches. At the core of my practice I am Humanistic in my values, which means that I will be accepting, empathetic and non-judgemental in our sessions and I will be guided by you. I will provide a safe space to enable you to share and explore your reasons for seeking therapy.

I offer face-to-face, online and telephone counselling. My private practice is located in Kenilworth and I am happy to have an informal chat either face-to-face, online or by telephone, to gently discuss what you would like from counselling and to see if I am the right counsellor for you.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
