Cheryl Harrison Dip. Couns MBACP
I offer an opportunity to explore difficult feelings and emotions in a safe, confidential and calm therapeutic environment. Working with a counsellor in a mutually collaborative relationship can allow you as an individual to gain new perspective and insight into whatever might be troubling you. The demands of daily life can often seem overwhelming and the ability to talk to someone who will listen both with respect and without judgement can empower you to fulfil your potential.
I work as an integrative counsellor which means I draw on techniques from a range of therapeutic concepts. This enables me to tailor my approach to my client's specific need. I also find that some clients gain more from working in a creative or visual way and I will often use stones, art or other creative tools in order to help my client gain the full benefit from our sessions.
My work is in accordance with the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapists of whom I am a registered member. I am fully insured and I undertake regular ongoing professional development. I also meet with a counselling practitioner on a regular basis to ensure that I maintain a high standard of expertise.
I also work as a tutorial assistant teaching Counselling as a subject within the adult learning sector and I specialise in providing personal therapy to students undertaking counselling qualifications. I recognise and understand the challenges these courses can present.
Considering Counselling can often feel a little daunting but the investment in personal wellbeing can prove life enhancing. An initial session is offered with no obligation to commit further unless you are happy to do so.
