I am a friendly, calm, and gentle psychotherapist/counsellor. I will work with you at your own pace in whatever brings you to need to gain more insight and understanding to your life. This can be to help you with current difficulties, dealing with change/loss or anxiety/depression, dealing with relationship issues, trying to cope with life changing/long term/life limiting illnesses or if you have lost someone you love and finding it hard to carry on.
Training, qualifications & experience
I am an experienced therapist and have studied to Masters Level.
I work in a person centred way which means we work with whatever is important to you, you will be in charge of what you bring to the session and the pace in which we work together. This could be how to help you in a few sessions or if we work together longer term for you to get a deep understanding of the life you have experienced this far which will allow you to begin the process of increased awareness and change.
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
I charge £50 per session
I offer concession rates form counselling students
I work in a purpose built office next to my home. This has a separate entrance and waiting area. Parking is readily available. This is directly on a public walk way so offer walk and talk therapy too. I also have a giant Newfoundland dog who is happy to say hello and/or sit in during sessions if her calming effect would be welcomed. She is equally happy not to.
