Dr. Chathurika Kannangara is an experienced Counsellor, Psychotherapist and Psychologist. Chathurika has many years of experience working with children, young people and adults, working in a variety of settings including – NHS clients, local counselling services, G.P. referrals, schools and teenage counselling services.
My approach to therapy is based on the principle that every individual has the capacity to flourish. I believe in helping people to improve self awareness, coping mechanisms and tools to enhance resilience to deal with challenging circumstances in life.
The (COVID19) Pandemic and the rapidly changing circumstances in the UK is an unprecedented time affecting every one of our lives. Counselling and Psychotherapy is in very high demand where everyone can benefit from therapy. Although we have seen the challenges that our young generation has been going through, its long-term impact cannot be predicted at this point, the best we can do is to support our young generation and adults to cope with the circumstances.
Adults: Counselling can help adults with a range of issues, such as work and life demands , depression, anxiety, loss, OCD, panic, anger management, satisfaction with life etc and many more.
Children: Counselling can help with issues such as anxiety, adjustment, peer and relationship conflicts, eating disorders, anger management, panic and many more. If you have any questions feel free to contact me on 07930716220 or email me here.

MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
