About me

I am currently ONLY offering video and telephone appointments.

Are you feeling scared, unsettled, isolated, anxious, depressed or concerned.
Generally finding it hard to cope with situations or changes in your life.

Perhaps these or other issues that are troubling you?

Sometimes we just need someone who will listen!

There are many reasons why people seek the support of a therapist. We all need some help and support from time to time, as we all experience periods where we struggle to deal with events that are happening in our lives. This might be work, home, school or from a relationship. Perhaps you have been through early trauma or a traumatic experience that you are having difficulty coming to terms with. You may have been bereaved, separated, divorced or struggling with relationships in your life. Stress, anxiety and depression may be adversely affecting your daily life.

How counselling can help

Sharing experiences, difficulties and feelings with someone who is not connected to your life and is non-judgmental can help make sense of what has happened or happening.

I am a qualified integrative accredited counsellor working with children, young people and adults. I offer a safe confidential space to allow you to explore and share your thoughts and feelings without judgement while feeling secure in a space you can trust.

What I offer

I am able to offer long term and short term sessions working with different approaches to ensure the development of a beneficial therapeutic relationship with each other. These include TA- Transactional Analysis, Person Centred, Psychodynamic, Humanistic, CBT - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness and Sand Tray Therapy.
Although I use these approaches my core approach is Person Centred, which means that all our sessions are client lead and allows you to explore and look at self. This allows us together to explore and learn more about you.

As a counsellor I can fully appreciate that daunting experience you may feel with talking to someone about aspects of your life, which possibly you may never have talked about before.
The core of my practice centres on helping people move through the stages of process towards their healing process.

I also offer Group Support and Supervision Sessions

What to expect

I offer an initial 50-minute assessment to understand your current difficulties and talk together about what sort of help you are looking for. Following this process, we discuss whether we can then work together.
We then will make a therapeutic contract setting out the cost, location with date and time and possible length of work together as I offer long term and short term counselling.

If in a school setting, I will arrange to meet with the parents if suitable or the school referrer.

The sessions will last for 50 minutes and usually on a weekly basis.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
