About me
Hi , my name is Charlotte and I am A BACP registered counsellor with many years experience of working with adults and young people .
My aim as a therapist is to build a trusting and empathic relationship with my clients . Our lives can become stressful and overwhelming at times. Things get on top of us and it seems impossible to find peace and balance again. We may have some difficult feelings or past hurts that are stopping us from moving forward. We feel stuck.
Do you feel anxious , find yourself worrying excessively or putting everyone else's needs before your own ? Would you like to feel more confident ? Calmer and more in control of your life?
How I work.
As an experienced counsellor , I offer a welcoming and accepting space to work through any feelings that may be holding you back and stopping you living a fulfilled life. By exploring your thoughts together , we can look at effective ways to manage any difficult emotions and develop more confidence , this will give you back the control over your life that you are looking for .
I am trained in a variety of theories and counselling approaches so that our work together is tailored to your individual needs as everyone is different. The sessions are 60 minutes long , are generally held weekly or fortnightly and are client led so you can talk to me confidentially at your own pace. I can help you to gain perspective and understanding about what is going on for you and we can look at any goals for your life you may have and how best to work towards them.
Often what has happened to us in the past can provide clues about the problems we are dealing with in the present. Equally, we can be hit by an unexpected life event that we need support to process, so I aim to sit alongside my clients, offering them empathy, acceptance and a safe space to explore what is troubling them.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

How counselling can help.
Many people believe that counselling is only for serious problems but in my experience therapy can be of benefit for many different issues that we can experience in our lives because it can help us to gain insight and awareness which leads to understanding of why we think and behave in certain ways . Armed with this newly gained self knowledge we can feel empowered to make changes for the better .
How many sessions will I need ?
Well this a hard one to define . It really depends on your issue , so for example some problems may need only a few sessions to gain a fresh perspective on whatever is troubling you, whilst deep seated issues may need more sessions . As everything is client led you can determine what is best for you and we can discuss it as we go along . All the work we do will be collaborative with your needs at its heart .
