About me
Hello, I'm Charlotte, a qualified counsellor registered with the BACP. I offer therapy face-to-face and online.
I know what it’s like to have counselling and to feel unsure about who to talk to or even what to say. That’s why I offer a free consultation, to help put you at ease and to answer any questions you have about counselling or how we might work together.
What type of counselling do I offer?
My approach to counselling is called ‘pluralistic’ this means that to meet your individual needs I draw on relevant evidence-based training from different counselling approaches.
I understand that in order to talk freely about things that are difficult it is important to feel comfortable. To support this, I provide a safe and confidential space where your experiences will be affirmed and explored sensitively, helping you to become more self-aware and to feel less overwhelmed.
Issues and feelings I have experience working with include, but are not limited to:
- Anxiety
- Low self-esteem
- Life transitions
- Relationship problems
- Social isolation / Loneliness
- Shame and guilt
- Emotional, physical, psychological and sexual abuse
- Low confidence or low self-esteem
- Depression
- Sexuality
- Loss
How I work with people
We will establish a collaborative relationship, focusing on what is important to you. We will take therapy at your pace knowing that I’m here, without judgement, for whatever you need to bring. Clients have said they find me easy to talk to. This, combined with care and honesty, helps to build a strong partnership and gives you a space to look at parts of your life and self that are hard to do alone.
As we explore your feelings you might find you develop a better understanding of how life is affecting you in the here and now or even how past experiences are shaping your life today. With this new understanding comes the opportunity to heal, make changes and to move on from whatever has been holding you back.
Counselling is an investment in yourself and I want you to get the most out of it so please get in touch if you have any questions or if you would like to arrange an initial chat.

Experience
I have worked and volunteered to support people all of my adult life. I have learned a great deal from everyone I have had the privilege of sharing time with and remain grateful to have been trusted with their experiences.
I know that life can be tough and sometimes it does not feel like a way forward is possible. Talking to someone who understands can help to lighten the load you are carrying. If you'd like to share some of that with me, I am here to listen.
Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).
Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.
Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.
All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
