Whatever your reasons for seeking a counsellor my aim is to provide a safe place, free of judgement from which you can share your concerns.
The thought of opening up can be scary, so keep in mind that I'm aware of this and understand how difficult this first contact can be.
Talking to friends and family can be difficult and their personal views can lead us to feel they don't understand. Talking to a trained counsellor is a unique experience, offering the chance to think about your feelings, in a way that can help you build a better understanding of yourself. This can improve not only how you feel about yourself, but also improve your relationships and help you find ways of coping with the day to day strains of life.
I have worked with clients of various backgrounds, gender, sexuality and all ages from late teens to later life. I have helped people work through difficulties such as depression, anxiety, stress, phobias, relationship issues, bereavement, trauma, addiction and more.
The first step would be to arrange an initial session. This offers you the chance to talk about what has brought you to counselling now and decide if you would like to work with me.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have always been drawn to understand why we think, feel and behave as we do, and this curiosity led me to study a Degree in Psychology. Following this I felt that my passion was to focus on helping people to work through their personal struggles which led me to train as a Psychodynamic Counsellor.
As a Counsellor with 10 years of experience I have found it to be a privilege to help many people manage very challenging times or face parts of themselves that they felt unable to manage alone.
I can offer time limited counselling in which a focus is found and we work for 12 weeks.
I also offer open ended sessions in which a end date can be decided once you feel ready to finish.
