Are you feeling anxious or depressed?
Do you feel as though you need to find answers to something that you have struggled with for a long time?
Or you might be facing a life changing situation that has left you unable to cope as you used to?
Whatever your reasons for seeking a counsellor my role is to help you to find the answers to why you are experiencing these difficulties, in a safe place, free of judgement.
Talking to friends and family can be difficult and their personal views often lead us to feel they don't understand. Talking to a trained, and experienced counsellor offers a different and unique experience, you have the chance to think about your feelings, and situation in a way that can help you build a better understanding of yourself. This can improve how you feel about yourself, improve your relationships and help you find ways of coping with the day to day strains of life.
I have worked with clients of various backgrounds, gender, sexuality and all ages from late teens to later life. I have helped people work through difficulties such as depression, anxiety, stress, phobias, relationship issues, bereavement, trauma, addiction and more.
I can offer time limited counselling for 12 sessions in which a focus is discussed within the first session, allowing us to bring clarity to the focus area as we work towards our end date.
Alternately I can offer open ended counselling in which a final session can be set when you feel you are ready to finish.
The first step would be to arrange an initial session. This offers you the chance to talk about what has brought you to counselling now and decide if you would like to work with me.
The thought of opening up can be scary for some, so keep in mind that I'm aware of this and understand how difficult this first contact can be.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have always been drawn to understand why we think, feel and behave as we do, and this curiosity led me to study a Degree in Psychology. Following this I felt that my passion was to focus on helping people to work through their personal struggles which led me to train as a Psychodynamic Counsellor.
