Counselling can be a profoundly self-changing experience but taking that first step may feel daunting. The thought of talking through emotional turmoil or difficult life experiences can be overwhelming, but what would it be like to talk to someone who will listen without judging you or offering you advice? Someone who can be a thinking partner? Doing this in a safe environment, at a pace that suits you can help you gain clarity and a better understanding of yourself.
My background is rooted in the psychodynamic tradition and is also flexible and sensitive to your individual needs. Generally, if you are seeking the support of a psychodynamic counsellor you should be interested in exploring yourself and your life experiences, and seek self-knowledge in addition to life changes. You will be doing a lot of self-reflection and should have a natural curiosity for your internal life and why you behave the way you do. For example, someone who keeps choosing abusive partners may want to learn how to break that pattern by exploring their unconscious conflicts through free association.
I am committed to providing counselling in a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment. I work with individuals on an open-ended basis or for an agreed time period, with the aim of enabling you to enhance your life and to live it more fully.
