About me

Hi, my name is Chanelle. I'm a trained psychotherapeutic counsellor with over 10 years experience of helping adults and young people overcome fears, break patterns and feel better about themselves, around others and in relationships.

I offer effective support for anxiety, depression, confidence issues, bereavement, stress management, work-related issues, relationship difficulties, suicidal feelings, postnatal depression, parental guidance, breakdown in family relations, and other mental health issues.

Due my specific training my focus is often on making sense of and understanding our unique childhood experiences and early development. In my 10 years of working I have observed that many of the challenges we face as adults come from something that happened to us in childhood. Our early life is a significant time because it's when our understanding of the world around us and of ourselves is being shaped, and yet many of our experiences during this time are not fully remembered, understood or conscious and so we are disconnected from how they may still be shaping our reality in the here and now.

I offer short-term (6 sessions) and on-going longer term support at my practice in North Yorkshire or for those not local to me I offer support online via Skype or Zoom.

If you think you might like to speak with me or make an appointment please feel free to message me and i'll get back to you asap.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have trained at the Northern Guild for Psychotherapy and am a qualified Psychotherapeutic Counsellor specialising in working with childhood issues and early development.

As well as providing a safe, non judgemental space and listening ear for talking therapy, I am also able to use more creative methods to help client's understand the cause of their difficult feelings on a deeper level and feel more at ease if talking alone does not feel effective enough.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
