About me

Getting in touch with a counsellor can take great courage. As someone who understands this, I want to assure you that you will be treated with respect, warmth and openness by me. It doesn't matter how big or small your problem is, I will listen to you openly, warmly and with no-judgement, with the intention of supporting you to gain clarity and reconciliation with whatever is troubling you. Trust is very important in a counselling relationship and I want you to know that we will always go at a pace that feels right for you.

How can counselling help?
When things start becoming a problem (be they dilemmas, illnesses, emotions, life changes, alcohol, family or relationship problems) bottling them up can create other difficulties such as difficulty sleeping, anxiety, isolation, panic attacks or feeling overwhelmed. Being able to talk to someone who is friendly, open, caring and professionally trained can be of enormous relief and benefit. Please be assured that everything we talk about is held in the strictest confidence by me.

What I can help with?
I am experienced in dealing with a wide range of life issues, such as anxiety, depression, change, stress, relationship problems, emotional eating, alcohol issues, bereavement, isolation, co-dependancy, coming to terms with being a parent, panic, problem childhoods, feelings of doubt, low self-esteem, and loneliness. As an experienced integrative therapist, I draw upon a variety of counselling skills (including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)) to support you through life's challenges to bring you closer to the right path for you.

Alongside my private practice, I am a workplace counsellor at Kingston Council and a counsellor at ASCA (Addiction support) in Richmond, where I support those affected (either directly or indirectly) by alcohol problems or other addictions.

Therapy Rooms
As well as being an approachable, warm and thoughtful counsellor, I have a pleasant therapy room in Kingston-Upon-Thames and Surbiton, and can offer day and evening sessions, short and long term. I really recommend that you try a few of us out initially, to work out who you feel most comfortable with, as I know that finding the right counsellor, can positively change your life.

Please visit my website for more information, or give me a call to chat through any queries. If I'm not available straight away, do leave a message and I will endeavour to get back to you as soon as possible.

In my practice I draw from the following theories;

Humanistic (offering a non-judgemental, caring and open space where I take time to understand your needs and values and put them at the centre of our work),
Psychodynamic (talking about your childhood and life so far),
Existential (noticing how you make meaning and sense of your life)
CBT - Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (challenging your thoughts and behaviour patterns) Great for anxiety, depression, panic.
Addiction; 12 step approach - can be helpful when working through dependencies such as alcohol, drugs, shopping, sex, love, etc.

Other areas of counselling I deal with

I also offer work related counselling with regards to resolving team related or personal issues, I incorporate transactional analysis within this context to help you understand how to manage yourself within a work context when you are coping with 'unprofessional' feelings or thoughts.

Choosing the right therapist for you is vital for therapeutic success. I therefore offer a reduced rate of £30 for an introductory first session of 50 minutes.

Day time sessions are £50 and evening sessions are £55 for a 50 minute session, this depends on the time of day and location of your counselling session.

I have 2 concessionary sessions available each week, so do ask if you are concerned about finances.
