About me

Hello I am Cecilia and I am a BACP Accredited Counsellor and an experienced Supervisor and Counselling Trainer. Having been qualified as a Counsellor for almost 20 years I have over 5,000 hours of counselling experience and I have worked effectively with a broad range of issues.

I work face to face with clients, generally on a short term basis as needed. Most often, clients will book a short series of weekly sessions but can choose to work fortnightly or less regularly, according to need.

For many years I worked with survivors of sexual abuse and assault and was Clinical Lead for a large Rape Crisis Centre in recent years. Through this work, I  became specialised in working with trauma memory and I use both EMDR and TFCBT as part of my approach to specific trauma resolution.

I have worked extensively with children, adolescents and adults.

I offer a safe and secure space for the client to share and explore issues - whatever they are -  and work out an appropriate way forward for you.
I appreciate that it is difficult to select a Counsellor to suit you and I am comfortable to have a telephone conversation to discuss things with you initially and to book a first session.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have been a qualified counsellor for almost 20 years and an accredited Counsellor for 10 years. I have also been a qualified Counselling Supervisor for almost 15 years and I have worked consistently with clients and supervises throughout all of that time.

Having originally trained as a Person Centred Counsellor, I am now an eclectic practitioner and utilise Humanistic, Cognitive Behavioural, Psychoanalytical and trauma specific approaches to the work as appropriate.
I have experience working with a broad range of presentations including anxiety, depression, self harm, addictions, sexual and psychological abuse, self esteem and relationship issues.
I am specialised in rape and sexual abuse and other trauma related symptoms and am qualified as an EMDR practitioner, a technique which can be used to alleviate Post Traumatic Stress symptoms in some cases. I have an Advanced Post Graduate Certificate in Psychological Trauma from Chester University.

In addition to working with individual clients, I also have experience of facilitating groups and writing and delivering material for therapeutic group work with children and adults.
