Catia Lopes MBACP
Clapham Common Clinic
151-153 Clapham High Street
There are moments in life when we may need help with understanding the way we relate to other people, how we conduct our personal, professional and family life or why we sometimes make decisions that are detrimental to our wellbeing. On these occasions, many people decide to look for a Counsellor or Psychotherapist.
Client and psychotherapist will work together, questioning, analysing and reflecting on what is communicated by the client, without judgment or criticism. In this setting the client will be able to explore and try to understand their difficulties with the aim of managing them more effectively and producing some change.
I’m a Psychologist and Psychotherapist specialised in working with adults and young people with a range of difficulties, such as,anxiety, generalised anxiety disorder, depression, relationship issues, panic attack, bereavement, addiction, post natal depression, separation and divorce, anger management, OCD. I offer short-term and long-term individual counselling in Clapham Common and online via Skype or FaceTime.
My training is in Integrative Counselling, and as such I am a great believer of not one model fits everyone, and rather prefer to draw on my learning and knowledge to apply the approach best for your needs. I provide a safe, non-judgmental and confidential space for the exploration of challenges that you may be facing or troubled by. There is also space for reflection.
Please contact me for a free telephone consultation to discuss your concerns and see I can offer you the support you are looking for.

Training, qualifications & experience
My qualifications include a BACP accredited Master’s degree in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy, a BSc (Honours) degree in Psychology with Counselling Skills and a diploma in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). I am a BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) member.
As an integrative psychotherapist, I have been influenced by various therapeutic modalities that I use depending on client’s needs and preferences, including Psychodynamic and Attachment Theories, Transactional Analysis, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Humanistic approaches. However, I believe that the most significant factor facilitating client’s change and growth is the trust within the client-therapist relationship.
I have worked with young people at a community centre in South London for over three years. And also worked with portuguese speakers (Brazilian & Portuguese people) at a multicultural centre.
