Why come to Counselling?
We often have times in our life when things are not flowing as we would like them to. It can be that everything is just flowing too fast, or things can become stuck along the way and a tidal wave of emotions can threaten to overwhelm us. We might need a safe space to try and slow the flow, or to scoop out the bits that have become stuck, if we scoop them out and take a look at them they can usually be returned to the flow leaving us feeling better able to continue our journey.
What to expect in your first session
I offer a free initial consultation. This session is an introduction to one another, you can ask me anything you need to know about the counselling I offer and I will ask you some questions about yourself, your life, your relationships and what it is that has made you consider therapy.
Moving forward together
If you decide to book further sessions I aim to offer a calm and safe place to explore your feelings and work through your worries and anxieties. By working together and building a trusting relationship we can go to the most difficult places whilst holding you safely. Together we can work on any area of your life that is troubling you such as relationship issues, confidence or low self-esteem, loss or bereavement, difficulties from your past, trauma, phobias, eating disorders, financial, employment or business worries to name but a few. Nothing you wish to bring is ever too small and if it is important to you then it is important to me.
I am an Integrative counsellor; this means that I believe the relationship between counsellor and client is key to allowing change to occur for my clients. We would initially look at the goals you wish to meet through your therapy but we would work in a non-directive way, that is our time together is your time and each session is yours to bring whatever material you wish on that day.
Perhaps you have seen a counsellor before but perhaps not. It can seem a huge step to take and sometimes with therapy things can seem worse before they seem better. However by a strong mutual commitment we can work through this together.
Our counselling environment
Our sessions will take place in a private room adjacent to my home, it is on the ground floor with easy access. It is in a quiet country environment offering peace and tranquillity. Ample convenient parking immediately outside.
