Cathy McAllister Diploma CBT, Diploma Integrative Counselling MBACP
About me
In an ideal world, we would have someone to talk to within our family or support network, but sometimes we don't feel that we can because we don't want to hurt their feelings or face their reactions. Counselling fills this gap and is a way to express how you really think and feel in a respectful, warm, safe and non-judgemental environment, with someone who is impartial and not emotionally involved.
I am a qualified Integrative Counsellor which means that I use different models (including CBT), inter-twining them and tailoring them to fit your needs. This gives us the opportunity to explore how life is for you, how you feel about it and how you react during certain situations, all with the aim of finding solutions that work for you.
If you are 18 or over, I can help with a variety of issues, including:- Anxiety, stress, depression, bereavement, low self esteem and confidence, anger management, trauma (including PTSD), relationship issues, health related issues and work related issues (including bullying in the workplace).
To ensure that I work within your best interests at all times and working to code of ethics and good practice, I am a member of the governing body, BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists). I also attend regular training days keeping my skills and knowledge up-to-date so that I can help you in the best way.
I offer a free half hour initial consultation, without obligation, giving us the opportunity discuss how counselling may help you. Due to COVID 19 and wanting to offer the best level of consistency and service I am conducting sessions via the telephone or video call.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.
Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.
All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

I am also a qualified Supervisor and work with other professionals such as counsellors and support workers, with their client work. Helping and encouraging them to develop professionally and personally, by adhering to their agency policies and procedures, as well as a code of ethics which promotes good practice.
Although I am an Integrative Counsellor, I often work with Supervisee's who work with different models and together we help establish a learning environment, of support and guidance, enabling discussions to help facilitate their clients needs, whilst ensuring that they themselves remain safe.
As I work with clients who are 18 and above and do not have any experience of working with children, I am afraid that I cannot offer supervision to anyone who works with clients who are under 18.
My fees thereafter are:
1 hour Supervision: £45
1.5 hour Supervision: £55
