Cathleen Tucker PGCE MBACP Accred
I provide a confidential, caring yet challenging counselling service and work with you to understand issues and problems you are experiencing. My approach is one of working through these issues together hopefully to provide the insight needed to make progress so that you will be able to make choices that are right for you.
I am an experienced counsellor who is able to offer both individual and couples psychodynamic counselling. We will look at life experiences to see how these have brought us to where we are now, and gently work through these links to the past and how these have affected our decision making and how we are affected by life events. I will explain this in more detail at the first consultation.
There is an initial assessment session and each session is for 50 mins. At this initial session we will aim to ascertain whether this type of counselling is right for you and you can ask any questions you may have. Having counselling for the first time can be a daunting thought and I will try to make this experience as comfortable as possible.
The counselling I offer is predominately weekly and can be for a limited period of 6 to 12 weeks or long-term, with regular reviews along the way.
Training, qualifications & experience
Before I became a counsellor I was a trained teacher and specialised in Early Years education. My last post, before retiring, was Head of an integrated nursery in a school for children with special needs. I worked closely with the whole family during this time. I have worked with a broad spectrum of cultures, ages, physical and intellectual abilities, sexual orientations and spiritual and religious beliefs. These experiences led me to want to develop my own understanding of how our life experiences make us who we are and how our differences make us unique in the way we cope.
I trained over several years a with Gloucestershire Counselling Service where I am also a staff counsellor. I offer individual psychodynamic counselling from my home which can be tailored to suit the needs of the client. I hold a PGCE in Early Intervention in Early Years Education (Birmingham University) and a WPF diploma in counselling. I am also a BACP Accredited counsellor.
