About me
I am an experienced, accredited Psychotherapist working in Scarborough and Malton.
I provide a confidential and supportive space for you to explore whatever difficulties you are facing, whether current issues or relating to your past.
I can offer short or long term therapy and have experience of working with a wide range of concerns and difficulties, through the counselling service that I work for and in my private practice.
Counselling can offer a confidential and non-judgemental space to talk about whatever is troubling you. I believe that we all hold the ability to solve our own problems, however sometimes we get stuck and need some support at difficult times.
I start with an initial session at a reduced fee for you to discuss your reasons for coming and to help you decide if I am the therapist for you.
I am a member of UKCP (www.psychotherapy.org.uk) and abide by their Code of Ethics.
Please feel free to contact me by phone (07976 874341) or email (catherineemmawrigley@gmail.com).
Training, qualifications & experience
I am a qualified, UKCP registered Gestalt Psychotherapist with over 10 years experience working in an organisational and independent setting. I am also a member of SCPTI (Scarborough Counselling and Psychotherapy Training Institute).
I completed supplementary training at St. Catherine's Hospice in bereavement support and worked for the Bereavement Support Service, Scarborough.
I currently work for a counselling service in Scarborough and Malton, and have worked with NHS referred clients, EAP clients and victims of serious crime, through the Victim Counselling Service funded by the OPCC.
I am experienced in working with trauma. I can offer support and ways to frame and work through the understandable impacts of trauma on the body and mind.
I have experience of mentoring student counsellors in training and am a Clinical Supervisor for other counsellors and psychotherapists.
I have also had training in eating disorders, domestic violence, childhood sexual abuse, pre-trial therapy/counselling, victims of crime, bereavement, mindfulness.
I am committed to continued training and personal development.
Member organisations
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.
As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.
UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
