Seeking counselling can be daunting, and you may have put it off for some time, so I aim to offer an initial telephone appointment within a week of receiving your enquiry. During that time I will encourage you to talk about what has brought you to counselling and what you hope to get out of it. We can then talk about how we might work together to improve your sense of well being.
Currently, I offer e-counselling via Zoom or telephone, hopefully by Spring, face-to-face will be possible.
Training, qualifications & experience
I originally trained as a teacher obtaining a Cert Ed, then specialised in Pastoral Care in secondary education. After some years I took further study leading to DipHE in Integrative Counselling.
My counselling clients have mainly been adults, with a range of issues including anxiety, panic attacks, low self-esteem, depression, relationship issues, bereavement and loss.
Association for Christian Counsellors
The Association of Christian Counsellors is a professional body representing and setting standards for Christian counselling and care in the UK. The organisation is made up of various different membership categories, including Counsellor and Accredited, and requires all members working as counsellors to undertake Continuous Professional Development on a regular basis.
Accredited register membership
Accredited Register Scheme
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
Areas of counselling I deal with
There is no charge for the initial telephone consultation. Thereafter the fee is £40.00 per 50 minute session. A reduced rate might be possible in the case of financial hardship.
People seek counselling for a variety of reasons including wanting to address current difficulties; having painful intrusive memories or wanting to gain more self-understanding. Whatever your difficulty, you have a need and a right to be heard. My aim is to listen and help you explore your particular issues in a safe and secure environment. This might give insight into the triggers and maintaining influences on your issue(s), and then we can explore the possibility of making any changes you think might help. The agenda will always be set by you.
My basic approach is Person Centred, but I work in an integrative way, drawing on such therapies as CBT, Mindfulness, Relaxation and Creative Therapies, according to your needs and preferences.
