About me

We all go through difficult periods in life. These might be related to experiences in the past or present or fears for the future. You may be feeling unhappy, anxious, overwhelmed, stuck or you may have experienced loss or trauma recently or in the past. You may simply be curious about exploring your mental health.

I am a person-centred counsellor working with adults and young people (16+) who have experienced a wide range of issues including abuse, trauma, depression, anxiety and self-esteem.

The person-centred modality is founded in the belief that given the right conditions, everyone can reach their full potential and be their true self. In our sessions together I will offer you complete acceptance, honesty and empathy. I will be by your side as you explore experiences and feelings in a safe, non-judgemental space.

I will follow your lead and we will work to your goals, at your pace. Where appropriate I will offer tools and techniques to process your experiences. I hope to build your wellbeing, self-acceptance and self-love and empower you to build resilience and achieve resolutions.

It takes courage to seek counselling and talk about your personal thoughts and feelings.  I hope to provide you with a safe space to help understand and make sense of what is going on for you and explore ways you can feel differently about yourself and your relationships.

Training, qualifications & experience

I believe my previous life experiences, in combination with my counselling work and training, can provide empathy and support for a wide range of clients.  I came to counselling after 20 years working in business, often in high stress environments that I now realise were not fully aligned to my personal values.

I received my Level 4 Diploma in Therapeutic Counselling in 2022 after three years of study.

I completed my counselling placement with the Rape & Sexual Abuse Support Service in South Bucks, working with female survivors of abuse of all ages and from all backgrounds.

I currently work at two organisations alongside my small private practice:

  • No Excuse for Abuse (noisno.org.uk) supports female and male clients who have experienced all forms of abuse including sexual, psychological and domestic and associated trauma, depression, anxiety and self-harm.
  • Number 22 (number22.org) where I work with adult clients with a range of presenting issues. I am also part of their school’s programme and work each week with students aged 11-18.

I attend regular CPD (Continuing Professional Development) and supervision.

I am a registered member of the BACP (no. 399084) and work to their ethical framework and code of practice.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
