Catherine Pierce

About me

I offer creative and play therapy to children and adolescents. Developing a safe, compassionate and therapeutic relationship with you and your child is the cornerstone of my work and I bring kindness, honesty and a sense of fun to my sessions: play and laughter are a great healers.

I have worked with 5 -14 year olds with anger, depression, anxiety, strange behaviours, developmental disability, low self-esteem, and trauma and neglect. There are many reasons underlying these difficulties such as loss, divorce, family restructuring, physical health changes, witnessing domestic abuse, parental mental health difficulty, or drug and alcohol addictions.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have 20 years voluntary mental health experience and for last 5 years have worked in children's centres, schools and see clients privately. I now work part time in the community in a service who are commissioned by CAMHS to support professionals working with children and young people.

I have an MA Play Therapy (Roehampton University), Certificate in Psychodynamic Counselling (Westminster Pastoral Foundation), Certificate in Cognitive Behavioural Coaching (Centre for Coaching, Middlesex Univ accred) and BSc (hons) Psychology (Birkbeck College University of London). I have trained in Filial Therapy and Dyadic Developmental Parenting (Level 1), and have about 10 years of CPD including trauma and body work.
