About me

I work from a humanistic integrative approach and believe that people can benefit from counselling for a wide range of reasons; to deal with thoughts, feelings and behaviours that may be causing distress; for support in times of difficulty, such as bereavement, divorce, illness or unemployment; or to seek greater self-awareness and fulfilment in life, enabling growth and a deeper understanding

It is not always easy to speak to friends or family about difficult of personal issues and it can help to speak to a counsellor who will not judge you or tell you what to do. Counselling can give you the opportunity to be heard and to find clarity to enable you to make your own decisions, all in a supportive and confidential environment.

If you think counselling could help you, please phone or email me for an introductory chat, and we can arrange an initial appointment to see how we can work together.

I also offer supervision to other counsellor, psychotherapists and trainees.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Masters degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy (Advance Clinical Practice) and a Foundation Degree of Arts in Counselling (passed with Distinction).

I am a Qualified Cyber Therapist, trained at the Online Therapy Institute.

Advanced certificate in Clinical Supervision.

I also have a BA(Hons) in History and a Postgraduate Certificate (with Distinction) in Photography.

I am a member of the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (full clinical psychotherapist) and an Accredited member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and adhere to their Ethical Framework for the Counselling Professions. I am a member of the Association for Counselling and Therapy Online and the Suffolk Association for Counselling.

I work from a humanistic integrative approach, with particular emphasis on Gestalt, TA and person-centred approaches.

I attend regular supervision to adhere to the BACP's strict codes of practice.

I have an enhanced DBS check and hold professional indemnity insurance.

Member organisations

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

UKCP
UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)

The UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP) is a leading professional body for the education, training and regulation of psychotherapists and psychotherapeutic counsellors. Its register is accredited by the government's Professional Standards Authority.

As part of its commitment to protect the public, it works to improve access to psychotherapy, to support and disseminate research, to improve standards and to respond effectively to complaints against its members.

UKCP standards cover the range of different psychotherapies. Registration is obtained by training or accrediting with one of its member organisations, or by holding a European Certificate in Psychotherapy. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Further information

We will initially speak on the phone to discuss how I can help you. If you are happy to proceed, we will arrange an introductory session to help you decide whether counselling could help you and if so, we will agree a plan for your therapy.

It is usual to plan for 6 to 12 sessions, and we can add or reduce these at any time. There is no obligation to continue and you may finish therapy at any stage, although it it beneficial to work toward a planned ending. We will enter into a therapy contract so that our arrangements are clear. Our sessions and their content are strictly confidential.

I am implementing safety measures to best manage our health if we are meeting face-to-face.

I work from private rooms in Woodbridge. There is ample free parking outside and buses 63, 64 and 65 stop nearby. I am 15 minutes walk from Woodbridge train station.
My rooms are on the ground floor with wheelchair access, although I am afraid there is not wheelchair access to toilets.

I am also offering video, phone and email sessions during the Covid-19 crisis. We can discuss which medium you would like to use when you get in touch.
