About me

I am an Accredited Counsellor. I use an integrative model which allows approaches that are tailored to your specific difficulties. I work with adolescents, individuals and couples.

I am warm, friendly and easy to talk to.  I have been working as a counsellor for 15 years and my practice provides a safe, discreet, confidential environment.  Sessions will involve looking at your current life circumstances and dilemmas and finding ways to manage overwhelming fears and concerns; whilst at the same time exploring new perspectives and finding ways for you to feel more empowered and confident to manage them.

Counselling can be a successful medium to work through many issues such as - generalised anxiety disorder, stress, depression, anxiety, low self-esteem, low self confidence, fear, family and relationship issues, separation and divorce, postnatal depression, pregnancy and birth, miscarriage, bereavement, childhood trauma and self image without feeling judged.

I can provide a safe and confidential space to discuss uncomfortable issues, such as, affairs and betrayals, physical and emotional abuse, domestic violence, sexual issues, bullying, suicidal thoughts, drug abuse or any issue which may be difficult to share with family or friends.

It can also be a means to achieving self actualisation, providing useful inputs to the process of career growth, and an increase in motivation, achievement and self-esteem.

Counselling is about creating an honest relationship in a safe, discreet, confidential environment.  Sessions will involve looking at your current life circumstances and dilemmas and finding ways for you to feel more empowered and confident to manage them.  You may only need a few sessions to reach your goals or it could be open ended.

As an Integrative counsellor; I work across various models of counselling in order to tailor therapy to individually fit your needs taking a humanistic approach.  My integrative model includes, Person Centred, Existential, Psychodynamic and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT).

I particularly enjoy working with Students of Counselling. Having been a student myself, I understand the challenges faced by those aiming to join the profession.  Because of this I feel a need to help the future generation of counsellors.  In pursuit of these objectives I have set aside a number of sessions during the week dedicated to seeing students on route to their professional counselling qualification. For this reason I offer counselling students a low rate of £35.

As well as working with adults, I have experience working with children and young adults for which I have additional specialist advanced qualification.  Combining traditional counselling with more creative therapeutic approaches.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
