Catherine Davies MBACP (Accred)
I specialise in unresolved grief, loss and trauma. I use EMDR to treat single or complex post traumatic stress including combat PTSD. I also have experience of supporting the emotional wellbeing of health professionals (or other professions at risk of vicarious trauma or chronic pressures). Over the last twelve years as a humanistic integrative counsellor, psychotherapist and supervisor in a busy NHS environment, I have also experienced a broad spectrum of clients' struggles and concerns.
All human lives are at times affected by profound change, realisations, rites of passage that can be extremely challenging and test our resources to the extreme. The experience of grief, fear, confusion and doubt is a different pathway for each individual. As such, my approach is client led and my ethos drawn to promoting a de-stigmatising environment in which struggles, challenges, tragedies and recoveries are explored as part of being human.
Aside from my private practice, I am also a practitioner and founding trustee at Arc, a community driven charity based in Axminster Devon, that aims to support anyone seeking counselling help at a difficult time, as profoundly affecting change, loss or trauma touches their lives. The charity is fully integrated to its local medical practice, a pioneering model that has earned it many accolades.
