My approach is integrative and includes Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). CBT is the treatment of choice for depression and anxiety according to NICE (National Institute of Clinical Excellence guidelines). My training as a Chartered Counselling Psychologist allows me to work flexibly drawing on a wide range of psychological theories and models so that treatment is tailored to each and every individual according to individual need. We will work together to explore your issues in a safe and non-judgmental and confidential environment where you will have space to move forward with the issues which have brought you along.
At assessment I will provide you with an individually based formulation and treatment plan and we will work collaboratively to help you resolve your difficulties. I work with adult clients from a wide range of backgrounds and cultures.
For over 17 years I have worked with a range of mental health issues in NHS and private settings. I currently work in the NHS where I provide assessment and treatment to patients with depression and anxiety and a long-term condition (diabetes). I have worked with a wide range of adult patients across the lifespan from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures and have worked with them on a wide range of issues, including depression and anxiety. I also have many years experience of supervising colleagues and trainees, including Psychologists and CBT therapists.
As a Psychologist my thinking is holistic; making sense of the issues you bring in the context of your everyday life including home, work and health. I will want to understand the relationship between what you are thinking, how you are feeling and how your behaviour interacts with others around you such as family and friends. This way of looking at your issues may help to give you new perspectives and bring about change.
