Hello, my name is Cath and I am a clinical psychologist. Thank you for having a look at my profile.
I have worked in the NHS for several years, offering support to parents and caregivers, children and young people.
I currently offer online only therapeutic input.
I think it’s really important to build a strong therapeutic relationship so that you feel comfortable and supported.
The types of difficulties I am able to help you with include:
- Symptoms of trauma/posttraumatic stress disorder
- Sleep difficulties
- Health-related anxiety.
I draw upon a number of therapeutic approaches dependent on your individual (or your child's) needs and what feels a good fit for you. These approaches are:
- Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
- Compassion-focussed therapy (CFT)
- Acceptance and Commitment therapy (ACT)
- Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy (EMDR)
Training, qualifications & experience
- BSc in Psychology
- Doctorate in Clinical Psychology (obtained 2013)
- EMDR Therapist in training (accredited training acquired with the EMDR Academy).
Registered / Accredited
Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.
Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC)
The HCPC are an independent, UK-wide health regulator. They set standards of professional training, performance and conduct for 16 professions.
They keep a register of health professionals who meet their standards, and they take action if registered health professionals fall below those standards. They were created by a piece of legislation called the Health Professions Order 2001.
Registration means that a health professional meets national standards for their professional training, performance and conduct.
Areas of counselling I deal with
£110.00 per session
Free initial telephone session
If you are funding sessions through insurance, please speak to your insurance provider to ensure they will fund the sessions.
As of June 2022, I have some immediate availability.
I offer a free initial 15 minute telephone conversation to briefly talk with you about your hopes for support and whether we think an assessment session would be helpful.
The initial session (named the assessment session) always starts as a one-off. In this session, I gather information about the presenting difficulty and it helps me to know whether I am an appropriate person to support you. Online therapy may not be appropriate for all presentations. This also gives you an opportunity to see if I feel like a good fit for you too.
My working pattern is:
- Wednesday 9.15am - 3pm
- Thursday 9.15am - 3pm
- Friday 8.30am - 3pm
Please do get in touch if you would like to arrange an initial telephone call, and I look forward to hearing from you.
