About me

Thank you for clicking on my profile. I imagine that if you’re looking for a therapist you’re feeling pretty low right now. Perhaps it’s difficult to talk to family or friends. You worry they wouldn’t understand or that they might question your sorrows and struggles. Perhaps you feel you have to be the strong, supportive one who others can lean on, or you fear that people will think less of you if you show your vulnerable side. Maybe you're feeling stuck in life when others appear to be flourishing. Or perhaps you're feeling anxious and overwhelmed without quite knowing why.

It's my belief that talking about your deepest fears to a supportive, empathic therapist whose world has no connection with your own can be a source of great comfort as well as psychological growth. Through a process of gentle exploration and self-reflection therapy can help you find a way forward and work out what a better life might look like. It can help you get to know yourself better. Over time therapy can help you bring about positive change where change is possible, whether in work, relationships or other areas of life.

Together we can explore the thought processes, whether it’s relentless self-criticism, rigid defences, or feelings of worthlessness, that might be hampering your progress in life. Over time we can work out the strategies that will help you build resilience and enable you to make positive, informed choices about your future.

Training, qualifications & experience

My core training is as a person-centred counsellor. I also work integratively, meaning I draw on other therapy models, namely psychodynamic theory and CBT. I recently trained in a relatively new approach called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and weave some of its ideas into my work as a therapist.

ACT is a dynamic, forward-thinking type of therapy that focuses on behaviours and positive change, rather than just talking about problems. It can be useful in helping you to identify the behaviours and thought processes that might be holding you back in life, whether it's unhealthy people pleasing, relentless perfectionism or harsh self-judgements.

I've worked as a therapist for several years and have an MA in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy from Roehampton University. In my work as a therapist, I receive ongoing supervision from a senior psychotherapist.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

Accredited register membership

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy
Accredited Register Scheme

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.
