About me

Thank you for visiting my profile. It's so lovely to meet you.

Welcome to Silence to Strength Counselling. My name is Carrie Smith.

Let me tell you a little about who I am and how I work. Having worked for the NHS for 23 years, I have a range of experience involving people, understanding each and everyone's life experiences and what makes them unique.

Working with me you'll find a safe and supportive space to explore your innermost thoughts and emotions. As a person-Centred Counsellor, I believe in providing clients with the opportunity to navigate their own journey towards healing and self-discovery, much like the journey of a lotus flower emerging from the murky depths to blossom in the light.

Drawing from a blend of person-Centred and integrative approaches, I offer a compassionate and non-judgmental environment, where clients can feel empowered to explore their feelings and experiences at their own pace. Whether it's through traditional talk therapy or more creative methods such as arts/play, I am dedicated to helping clients unlock their inner strength and resilience.

With a background in working with both adults and children, I understand the importance of tailoring my approach to meet the unique needs of each individual.

My quirky personality, complemented by my warmth, genuineness, and approachability, creates a space where clients feel valued, heard, and truly understood. As I transition to offering online counselling services, my priority remains the same: providing unwavering support and guidance to those seeking to overcome life's challenges and embrace their journey towards healing, just as the lotus flower embraces its journey from darkness to light. If you're ready to embark on a journey of self-exploration and growth, I invite you to reach out and take the first step towards a brighter tomorrow.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
