Carrie Fordham - Helianthus Counselling
People seek therapy for many reasons. Whether there are current major issues that you need to work through, past events which affect your life now or a sense of being out of step with the world then I hope that I can offer you the support you need in order to move on.
I am a BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) registered counsellor, meaning that I belong to a professional body which ensures that I have the necessary qualifications to practise and that I work within the ethical guidelines. I also attend Clinical Supervision regularly, ensuring that I am practising effectively and to the highest standard for each client.
I practise as a Person-Centred counsellor. I aim to create a warm and non-judgemental atmosphere in which you are considered to be the expert about your own feelings and emotions. I do not give advice, instead we work together to try to make sense of troubling current or unresolved past difficulties.
I work with individuals or couples (whether partners or family) who may be struggling with a wide range of issues, such as anxiety, depression, relationship problems, anger issues, loss or a feeling of being generally out of sorts. All sessions are completely confidential and are on a strictly face to face basis.
If you decide that I could be of some help to you I am happy to arrange an appointment either over the phone or by text or email. It is usual for individuals to have one session per week, the sessions are 50 minutes long and there is no upper limit on the amount of sessions you can choose to attend. For couples I suggest a session once a fortnight, the appointments are 75 minutes long and couples commonly have 3-6 sessions.
