About me

THE APPROACHABLE THERAPIST. With over 29 years experience, I can help you with a wide range of issues including stress, anxiety, relationship difficulties, anger management, trauma, work problems, family issues, bereavement, low self-esteem and many more. I offer a free 20 minute consultation with no obligation to commit to further counselling sessions. This provides you with an opportunity to visit me in my safe counselling environment and find out if we could work together on your problems.

My aim is to provide a supportive counselling service to match your needs and help you live your life more resourcefully with greater satisfaction, peace and happiness. I welcome individuals seeking help or support and tailor make sessions to address your unique issues. I offer as few or many sessions as you require to work through concerns, explore worries and anxieties and gain insight. Counselling can help you to clarify thoughts and feelings and enable decisions to be made or help you come to terms with challenging life events.

As an Integrative Counsellor my approach integrates interventions from a range of models including Humanistic, CBT and Psychodynamic with the intention of providing the best therapeutic way to help you. I hope this conveys that we can all benefit from counselling at unhappy or difficult times in our lives which often coincide with change or loss. With an emphasis on the building of a strong working therapeutic relationship, I aim to quickly help you feel at ease in order to empower you to regain control of situations.

My relocation, in Spring 2015, from Winchester, Hampshire, to a lovely rural village near Gt. Dunmow, Essex, has provided me with a new designated counselling room with flat access, adjacent toilet facilities and plenty of parking. I'm easily reached from the B1256 Road.

As a qualified Supervisor I welcome Trainees and Experienced Practitioners looking for support.

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
