About me

Therapy in central Bristol.

  • Have you tried talking to family or friends but without success?
  • Possibly it may be too difficult to talk through some issues with them?
  • Is now the time to seek professional and experienced help?

If you are feeling that life is overwhelming, perhaps for a specific reason, or perhaps in a more general way, with feelings of sadness, anxiety or anger, then I can offer you a safe, confidential and non-judgmental place to explore your feelings.

Many of us have times in our lives when feelings arise that can seem hard to bear on our own. Therapy can help to increase our self-awareness, giving us a better understanding and acceptance of ourselves, and enabling us to move forward in our lives. I absolutely believe that within us lie the answers to whatever we find troubling, and that therapy with a trained professional will help to find these answers.
I see clients with a wide range of issues from relationship difficulties, bereavement, anxiety, depression through to workplace or domestic bullying, pregnancy or fertility problems, shame and guilt.
I aim to help you understand "why" and "how" you respond as you do, in order for you to discover an alternative, more effective way of being. I will not judge or criticise you.

I am an integrative psychotherapist. People feel, think and react differently. Working this way means that I am able to integrate different therapies so that they are tailored to meet each individual client's needs. This is based on my belief that no one therapeutic approach has all the answers.

Training, qualifications & experience

I have a Post-Graduate Diploma from the University of Bristol.

I am a  Registered and Accredited member of the BACP, and also of the BACP Healthcare division.

I have trained in a number of areas, which I integrate into my work, and I regularly
update my skills.

I have taken several short courses with Professor Paul Gilbert in Compassion Focused Therapy, the most recent being Advanced Skills in Compassion Focus Therapy (2016). I have a particular interest in Mindfulness and have a daily practice, after completing an 8 week Mindfulness training course 8 years ago.

I also have a BA (Hons) from the University of Manchester.

I am an associate of several employee assistance programmes. I am also a recognised provider for Aviva, AXA, Cigna and Vitality.

Member organisations

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
