About me

I’m Caroline Weightman. As a qualified counsellor, understanding the benefits of the therapeutic relationship, I work collaboratively with my clients. Offering a safe, comfortable and confidential environment where your difficulties can be explored and your uniqueness is valued. I'm here to help and support you in understanding your troubles and to gain understanding of yourself.

No-one is immune to the difficulties and stresses of life and at times we can feel that these stresses or current/past difficulties are having an unhealthy impact on us and our relationships with others. We may have a sense of being stuck or feel that we are struggling on our own or without appropriate support. It is at times like these that speaking with a counsellor can help.

Drawing from my training in Humanistic and Integrative counselling and psychotherapy, and experience of both long and short term work, enables me to adapt my approach to your individual needs.

I offer 50 minute counselling sessions on a weekly basis to individual adults. The initial session is an opportunity for me to learn a little about your difficulties and expectations of counselling, for you to gain some understanding of what to expect, for us both to decide if we feel that we can work together and if indeed I am the right counsellor for you.

If you have any questions or wish to arrange an initial session, please e:mail me or contact me by phone. Should you leave a message for me to call you back, please leave your name and number specifying whether or not you wish me to leave a message should you be unavailable.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
