About me

I'm an experienced integrative counsellor. I have experience of working with anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, panic attacks, PTSD, Self-harm, domestic abuse, addiction, sexual abuse and some chronic medical conditions (non-exhaustive list).

My own personal experience of counselling led me to wanting to help others who may be experiencing difficulties in their life.

Within my private practice, I offer a confidential and safe space aiming to help the client explore whats difficult for them right now along with any associated feelings allowing the person to be heard in a empathetic, trusting and non judgemental way. Sessions are face to face but can also be over video chat or telephone, I also offer walk and talk services. I also work for Xenzone, a UK wide company, in which people access counselling services online. My general approach is relaxed and down to earth.

I have also been teaching yoga for 20 years and counting, my yoga journey began when I was experiencing panic attacks and anxiety in my early 20's. I found that having a holistic approach to wellness using both regular counselling as well as yoga helped me to gain equilibrium. I teach yoga classes in and around the Truro area, several days a week.

I'm happy to answer any enquiries you may have by telephone or email.

I'm experienced with working with people in a hospital setting within a Rehab therapy team. In this setting I worked with adults who have experienced trauma and usually have other additional chronic health conditions, I left this post in March 2017 after working there for 3 years.

I'm also experienced with face to face work with young people presenting with e.g. anxiety, depression, self-harm, identity/gender, abuse, bullying (non - exhaustive list)  I've been working with this age group for the two years and counting whereby I go into schools in and around Cornwall.

My experience also comes from my own life experience and, I am a mother to three children and understand the complexities of juggling work and home life.

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.
