About me

I have worked with a wide range of experiences with a particular ability to work with very difficult life experiences or very unhelpful behaviours. How would you feel if you didn’t have those difficult feelings or traumatic memories? Those feelings that can seem impossible or overwhelming really can feel different. Or maybe you just need to have someone you feel safe to talk with.

To give you a few examples (and this is not an exhaustive list), clients have had anxiety, anger, depression, family issues or were feeling sad. Low self-confidence and low self-esteem as well as panic attacks and social anxiety have also featured, plus self-harming. Trauma and childhood trauma are sadly far too common and I have worked with suicidal feelings and experiences. Some of my clients have either had autistic tendencies or diagnosed on the autism spectrum.

How counselling can help

I am an MSc qualified & experienced counsellor and psychotherapist to help you feel safe and able to work through your experiences in a gentle way. Using quick & easy tools of EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique or Tapping) with person-centred counselling to get to the core of issues, to transform & resolve. Matrix Re-imprinting is another tool I use which allows us to be able to feel differently about past traumas or unhelpful thoughts or behaviours. When appropriate, I borrow from some CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) and Transactional Analysis approaches.

What to expect in your first session

Before we arrange your first session, you will have the chance to chat on the phone with me to establish whether you would like to go ahead.

At our first session, there will be a short form to fill in and we will establish what you might want to get from the session or sessions. I do not diagnose and will work with whatever you choose to present. The way I work does not require you to "start at the beginning" although you can if you wish.

We can work online, via telephone, or in person in Sandbach, Cheshire. Please note there is a steep flight of stairs to the treatment room.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
