Caroline Françoise Renssen, MBACP, MBPsS
My goal is to give a non-judgmental, comprehensive and safe environment for my clients, building a trustful therapist-client relationship. I believe that empathy is the most important key for a successful work between client and therapist and I can assert that I have a considerable capacity of putting myself in others shoes and empathising with my clients emotions and life story. Also, I am a warm and supportive therapist.
My purpose as a Psychotherapist is to bring self-awareness to the client of their emotional issues, behaviours and their way of connecting with themselves and the world. My work consists of walking with the patient through the discoveries, experiences and emotions, from the present and past, in the here and now, aiming for self-awareness. With more self-awareness, the client will be also be more self-confident and have more self-acceptance.
Weekly sessions are ideal for a better therapeutic process. I can't pre-determine the number of sessions since I believe everyone has their own time to process emotions and therefore their own time to deal with internal and deep issues. But I can work focussing on some issues, if it's the clients goal.
I have more than 15 years of experience as a psychotherapist, working with adults, couples and families with a range of issues. I see clients in Marylebone and Battersea, in London and Online, via Skype or Facetime. I am fully qualified, registered and insured to practice psychotherapy in the UK. I am a member of BPS (MBPsS), BACP (MBACP) and UKAGP. I have trained on Gestalt-therapy and Systemic Therapy, but I also use some techniques from different approaches. I see clients in English and Portuguese.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a BA in Psychology, a Postgraduate in Gestalt-therapy and a Postgraduate in Systemic Family Therapy. Also, I am always looking to develop myself with courses, workshops, lectures, supervision, etc.
Most of my experience is with private practice, where I started more than 15 years ago. I also worked and volunteered as a psychotherapist at the Waterloo Comunity Counselling, seeing NHS/IAPT clients for 1.5 years. Previously I worked at the Brazilian Navy for 6 years as a psychotherapist and psychologist.
