I have more than 13 years of experience as a psychotherapist, working with adults, couples and families with a range of issues. I see clients in Marylebone and Battersea, in London and Online, via Skype or Facetime. I also work at the Multi-ethnic Counselling Service at Waterloo Community Centre, were I see NHS/IAPT patients.
I am fully qualified, accredited and insured to practice psychotherapy in the UK. I am a member of BPS and of BACP. I have trained on Gestalt-therapy and Systemic Therapy, but I also use some techniques from different approaches. I wok both in English and Portuguese.
My goal is to give a non-judgmental, comprehensive and safe environment for my patients, building the possibility of a trustful therapist-patient relationship. My work consists of walking with the patient trough the discoveries, experiences and emotions, from the present and past, in the here and now, aiming a self-awareness and searching for a healthier way of living and emotional developments for themselves.
I believe that empathy is the most important key for a successful work between patient and therapist and I can assert that I have a considerable capacity of putting myself in others shoes, empathizing and feeling together with my patients. Also, I am a warm and supportive therapist.
My purpose as a Psychotherapist is to bring self-awareness to the patient, from their emotional issues, behaviours and their way of connecting with themselves and the world. The process can be painful, since the patient will get in contact with their “darker” side, but it is of great importance for self-acceptance and a good self esteem. I can't determine the end of Psychotherapy, since every patient is one and has its own time to make changes in their lives.
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a BA in Psychology, a Postgraduate in Gestalt-therapy and a Postgraduate in Systemic Family Therapy. Also, I am always looking to develop myself with courses, workshops, lectures, supervision, etc.
Most of my experience is with my private practice. I also worked as a psychotherapist at the Brazilian Navy for 6 years and I work at WCC for over a year now.
