About me
Welcome to Inner Reach Therapy and Farm and Country Counselling! My name is Caroline and I am very pleased that you have stopped by to visit my page.
I am a qualified counsellor and I have many years of supporting individuals experiencing mental health challenges, low self-esteem, relationship and family problems as well as more complex issues such as domestic abuse and trauma.
I am also part of the counselling and therapy team at Kyra Women's Project, York and I facilitate the self-esteem course as well as providing general member support.
With a 30+ year background in farming and working in the rural community, I understand the issues faced when working and living in an isolated and demanding environment.
Whatever your background or circumstance, I am here to help and support you through your current mental health challenges...starting may seem like running a marathon but together we will begin those first few steps to help you on your way to better mental health.
(My counselling practice is neurodivergence and LGBTQQIA+ affirmative and I am aware at all times of my own and my clients unique differences.)
Training, qualifications & experience
I have a postgraduate degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy from Leeds Beckett University and a Bachelors (with honours) degree in Forensic Psychology.
I have been part of the team at Kyra Women's Project in York for many years, having a role on the counselling team and as facilitator of the ESTA (Enhancing Self-esteem to Achieve) course. More recently I have devoted my time to working with vulnerable individuals with symptoms of trauma.
Previously I worked within the mental health team of a farming charity which has helped to inform me further of the personal and professional issues affecting those working and living in rural locations.
Member organisations
BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership
The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

I offer face to face and online appointments.
Sessions last for 1 hour and start at £55 per hour for weekday sessions. I have a small number of weekend appointments available at the moment.
I have concession appointments available from £45 per hour, please ask for more details.
