About me
Welcome, do you feel overwhelmed, stressed, depressed, anxious or dealing with relationship difficulties…? Do you have unresolved trauma or struggling to manage change? I offer a comfortable and safe space to work through these difficulties at a pace that is right for you.
I am an Integrated Counsellor and Registered Social Worker having completed a PGCE and Masters Degree (MSW) at Durham University. I have worked in the NHS for over 10 years and for the past few years worked in my own private practice. My core approach is Person Centred therapy using Psychodynamic theory and CBT techniques.
I have supported hundreds of people overcome a wide range of difficulties including anxiety, depression and low mood. I particularly enjoy Inner Child work, and supporting individuals with trauma and relationship difficulties. I specialise in working with individuals who identify as being neurodivergent; with or without a diagnosis of ADHD or Autism.
I am passionate about helping you make positive changes and create a more joyful life! To identify and remove any emotional blocks or trauma, whether in childhood or recent day, that may be causing distress in your current life. I also enjoy working with adults and parents of children who had additional needs such as Autism (ASD)/ADHD.
I believe it is the therapeutic relationship between the Client and Therapist that creates positive change. My approach is warm and down to earth, I aim to create a relaxed and comfortable space for you to explore your difficulties. I work face to face, online or over the telephone. Please get in touch to help you decide if I am the right person for you.....

Member organisations

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred). Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA). Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision. Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training. All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
Accredited register membership

The Accredited Register Scheme was set up in 2013 by the Department of Health (DoH) as a way to recognise organisations that hold voluntary registers which meet certain standards. These standards are set by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).
This therapist has indicated that they belong to an Accredited Register.

Further information
I am able to offer face to face sessions in South Shields/Sunderland as well as online zoom sessions.
I offer a free initial telephone consultation to help gain a better understanding of your needs and ensure that you feel I am the right therapist for you.
Our first session will involve gathering information and gaining an overview of your difficulties. We will then agree on a treatment plan and focus for our sessions.
I usually recommend around 6-10 sessions however we would review this on an ongoing basis.
