About me

Thank you for viewing my profile. If you are feeling anxious about the future, overwhelmed or struggling to cope, then please get in touch. I specialise in anxiety, depression, loneliness and change. Talking through your problems can make you feel less alone.

We are living in an environment of constant change and counselling can provide the stability you need. My hope in working together is that we create a relationship where you feel safe and trust me with your fears. The knowledge that you have a planned time to talk about your worries can provide comfort and relief.

I can support you in making sense of what is happening in your life and help you to see things in a different way: I will listen without judgment or interruption. My role is not to give you advice but help you to explore your feelings and provide the time to think about yourself and for yourself.

My previous career as an HR and Change Management consultant has given me insight into the different ways that people respond to change. Understanding the change cycle and how this applies to your life can be useful in adapting and integrating new ways of living. In addition to my counselling experience, I have also trained as a coach. This allows me to draw on different techniques such as cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) to make positive change in your life.

I have worked with clients in all stages of adult life who have suffered trauma, loss or significant change and are now keen to understand how this has impacted on their lives and outlook today. A consideration of the past can provide insight into current attitudes and behaviour.

It is important that you feel comfortable talking to me. Before you make any commitment, please get in touch for a chat about how I can support you. I work from a spacious office in Bedford or remotely via Zoom.

In addition to running my private practice, I am an approved therapist with the Barnardo's LINK support service.

I have a BA in Management and Psychology, a Diploma in Psychodynamic Counselling, an MA in Personnel Management and am a Mental Health First Aider for Mental Health First Aid England.

I am a member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and the British Psychological Society.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Member organisations

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
