Caroline Hall Counsellor Psychotherapist MSc Psych, MBACP (Accred), CTA
1 Market Street
Having worked as a therapist for over 20 years I have a great deal of experience across a wide range of issues. I have also worked in variety of settings - as a relationship counsellor, student counsellor and as a workplace counsellor, dealing with issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, loss, self belief, confidence, addiction and self harm.
I offer both long and short term therapy. I regularly review work with clients and we together determine the length of therapy required.
I have always been fascinated by human behaviour, wanting to understand why we do what we do, and this has influenced both my training and my work with people. I have studied many different approaches including advanced training in Transactional Analysis, considering how early influences and events continue to affect and direct us in later life, and have seen that by becoming more self aware and encouraging a positive attitude with ourself, we can decide what influences we wish to keep and what we wish to change. In my work with clients I seek to promote a better understanding of our inner motivations and to improve our relationship with ourself. This can lead to better, healthier relationships with others too and a greater sense of connectedness.
As well as having the capacity to change and determine who we are, I also think that it can help to have a supportive, compassionate relationship to assist us in this endeavour - so that we are not doing it alone. This is what I seek to provide. Recent findings from studies on loneliness in our modern day society have highlighted the importance not only of having someone to talk to, but how crucial to our emotional and mental wellbeing it is to feel understood and connected with others.
I am especially interested in working with anxiety, depression, coping with change, loneliness, loss and self esteem.
If you want to live your life in a more satisfying, fulfilling way then therapy - short term or long term - may help.
