About me

Hello and welcome to my practice.

My name is Carolina Sammartino, and I am a qualified Transactional Analysis Psychotherapeutic Counsellor. I am an individual member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapist (BACP Nr 00964564) and of the National Counselling Society (NCS20-01939).

My aim is to help you understand how you feel, think and behave; to help you recognise your pain, and see how past experiences affect you in the here and now. Every person is unique and so are their stories. Regardless of what you will bring in our sessions, my position is always to stay curious, empathic and respectful of any possibilities, background and life experience.

Maybe you feel stuck, like that there is no hope. Perhaps you feel alone, or maybe you are experiencing a life transition such as a divorce, redundancy, or bereavement that feels destabilising. By exploring your story, thoughts, feelings, wishes, fears, memories and dreams within the safety of the therapeutic relationship, I will support you in gaining personal awareness and insight. Ultimately this will help you to live a more fulfilling life and overcome life's obstacles.

Training, qualifications & experience

I trained at the Metanoia Institute, and my psychotherapeutic approach is Relational Transactional Analysis, an integrative approach that uses the counsellor-client relationship to understand psychological processes and relationship dynamics. This is an equal, non-judgemental relationship that supports and sustains healing from emotional pain

A bit about myself

I am an adopted Londoner, originally from Naples, a vibrant and cultural but very problematic city in the South of Italy. I have a very humble background, but I have always known that there is more to life than meets the eye, and I wanted to explore the world. For nearly a decade I travelled and lived in different countries (Italy, France, Spain, USA, Colombia, and of course, the UK!). When I came to London, I worked in the corporate environment and in management for 14 years. So I really do understand work-related stress issues, redundancy, career disillusionment, and life transitions, but I also know what it feels like to be an outsider, and to be searching for answers.

About my practice

I am an Individual member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and I am working towards full accreditation with the United Kingdom Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). I am bilingual and offer therapy in English and Italian. I currently offer therapy online and in my private practice in West London. I also offer short-term psychotherapeutic counselling at the West London Counselling Centre in Hammersmith and long-term therapy with Community Activity Project Ealing (CAPE), where I work with people with severe and enduring mental illnesses.

My qualifications

I am fully qualified with a Diploma in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapeutic Counselling from the Metanoia Institute, an established school highly regarded for its commitment to thorough and rigorous training. I completed my Certificate in Humanistic Integrative Counselling in 2014 and I am currently working towards an MSc in Transactional Analysis Psychotherapy at the Metanoia Institute (validated by Middlesex University).

Member organisations

BACP

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
