About me

I offer a quiet ,confidential, safe, and socially distanced place where you can talk to me about any issues, problems, painful experiences that are causing you upset and distress: generalized anxiety disorders, depression, suicidal thoughts, addiction( drugs/alcohol/gambling/sex/food etc), fear of the future, ,marital, and relationship difficulties, or past issues that are still causing you distress.

My personal life experiences have been vast , sometimes difficult and very painful, and have led me to develop a greater understanding on how to help people who are going through difficult times. I have seen how people can go through the counselling process and become emotionally stronger , and live happier lives.

I have been involved, both in a  voluntary and a working capacity, within a drug & alcohol agency for 10 years, in the  role(s) of counsellor, outreach worker and project worker. I now have a vast understanding of the issues that arise from addiction, and have had the privilege of supporting people into recovery.

I have spent two years working in a women's' refuge, helping women who have experienced  physical, mental, and financial abuse, whilst often trying to protect their children.

I have personal and professional  experience of helping people who have been struggling in the role of being a parent.

I spent two years working as a volunteer in a youth club, which helped me understand more deeply the difficulties that young people can have during the transition from childhood to adulthood: peer pressure to drink alcohol/take drugs; bullying, problems at home, gender identity, school issues, and maybe just the difficulties that come with being a teenager/young person.

*Data Protection : I am I.C.O  registered.

I have worked with and helped people with a range of issues:

Marital problems

Suicidal thoughts/tendencies

Depression

Anxiety

Addiction

Relationship difficulties (family, friends, partner, work colleagues etc)

Sexual/physical /emotional abuse/self abuse

Loss /bereavement

I am trained Integratively , and use a range of methods when counselling, e.g Cognitive Behavioural  Therapy, which focuses on changing a persons thinking or behaviour that are causing difficulties, in order to change the feelings that are causing distress. Use of Psycho dynamic techniques helps a person to become aware that many of our present situations are related to past early experience ..Person -Centred therapy  helps a person to develop more self-esteem, and better self- understanding .

BACP
British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy (BACP)

BACP is one of the UK’s leading professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy with around 60,000 members. The Association has several different categories of membership, including Student Member, Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP, Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Accred) and Senior Registered Accredited Member MBACP (Snr Acccred).

Registered and accredited members are listed on the BACP Register, which shows that they have demonstrated BACP’s recommended standards for training, proficiency and ethical practice. The BACP Register was the first register of psychological therapists to be accredited by the Professional Standards Authority (PSA).

Accredited and senior accredited membership are voluntary categories for members who choose to undertake a rigorous application and assessment process to demonstrate additional standards around practice, training and supervision.

Individual members will have completed an appropriate counselling or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but they won’t appear on the BACP Register until they've demonstrated that they meet the standards for registration. Student members are still in the process of completing their training.

All members are bound by the BACP Ethical Framework and a Professional Conduct Procedure.
