About me

Are you struggling to cope and would like some help?

Perhaps you want to manage stress better or feel less anxious or understand the unhelpful behaviours that you are struggling to change. In my practice I offer you a warm, non judgemental space to talk in a way that you cannot often do with family and friends, a space where you can explore your difficulties and make the changes you want - appointments are usually available within a few days.

My background is in psychodynamic therapy which lends itself to exploring beyond presenting problems to possible underlying causes. My counselling approach is integrative, this flexible approach combines different therapeutic tools to fit the needs of the individual client - although often it is the relationship with the therapist that offers the potential for change. I offer short term or longer term counselling, together we can consider the option that suits your individual needs.  My practice has free onsite parking, it is wheelchair accessible and there is a public transport bus stop close by.

I have 18 years of experience and professional training on a wide range of issues, I have also worked in a variety of settings, private practice, further education, substance misuse and alcohol agencies, employee assistance programs and charities, gaining valuable knowledge in each.  I have considerable experience in working with depression, anxiety and stress.  My specialist area is working therapeutically with clients affected by alcohol and substance misuse, I also provide agency supervision in this field.

I will be happy to answer any further questions you may have

Registered / Accredited

Registered / Accredited

Being registered/accredited with a professional body means an individual must have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by their member organisation.

British Association for Counselling & Psychotherapy

BACP is one of the UK’s largest professional bodies for counselling and psychotherapy. Therapists registered with the Association fall into a number of different membership categories such as Individual Member, Registered Member MBACP and Registered Member MBACP (Accred), each standing for different levels of training and experience. MBACP (Accred) and MBACP (Snr Accred) members have achieved a substantial level of training and experience approved by the Association.

Registered members can be found on the BACP Register, which was the first register to achieve Accredited Voluntary Register status issued by the Professional Standards Authority. Individual Members will have completed an appropriate counselling and/or psychotherapy course and started to practise, but will not appear on the BACP Register until they've progressed to Registered Member MBACP status.

All members are bound by a Code of Ethics & Practice and a Complaints Procedure. Accredited by the Professional Standards Authority.

Wheelchair user access

Wheelchair-accessible premises should have step-free access for wheelchair users and individuals who are unable to climb stairs. If a counsellor's premises aren't step-free, they may offer alternative services such as telephone/web-based appointments, home visits, or meeting clients in different location, so you can choose the option that suits you best.

You can contact the counsellor to discuss the options available.

Under the Equality Act 2010 service providers have a duty to make reasonable adjustments to ensure that individuals with disabilities can access their service. You can read more about reasonable adjustments to help you to access services on the CAB website.
